NHLDS Honors Leaders in Laboratory Sector for Distinguished Contributions

The National Health Laboratory and Diagnostic Services (NHLDS) has recognized three outstanding individuals for their distinguished service in advancing laboratory services across Africa. Prof. Moses Joloba, Mr. Andrew Sirumesi, and Prof. Yoswa Mbulalira Dambisya were honored during the launch of the Regional Integrated Laboratory Systems Strengthening (ILSS) Project at Butabika, officiated by the First Prime Minister, Hon. Rebecca Kadaga.
Prof. Moses Joloba, the current Director of the Supra National Reference Laboratory at NHLDS, was acknowledged for his pivotal role as Technical Director of the Global Fund Regional TB Laboratory Strengthening Project. With a long-standing reputation for excellence in TB diagnostics, Prof. Joloba has garnered regional and global recognition for his contributions. Additionally, he is credited as the visionary behind the ILSS project, which aims to improve diagnostic services across 21 African countries.
Mr. Andrew Sirumesi, who serves as the Technical Coordinator of the ILSS project, was also recognized for his significant efforts in bringing the initiative to fruition. His leadership in project coordination has been instrumental in ensuring the successful implementation of this critical initiative.
Prof. Yoswa Mbulalira Dambisya, the outgoing Director General of the East, Central, and Southern Africa Health Community (ECSA-HC), was honored for his immense contributions to Africa's laboratory sector during his tenure at the helm of ECSA-HC since 2014. His leadership and dedication have had a lasting impact on strengthening the continent's health systems.

NHLDS also recognized the staff of NTRL for their dedication and commitment to service.
