In the week of 26th-30th January, the joint technical teams from the Ministry of Health, the Department of National Health Laboratory and Diagnostic Services (NHLDS), Aids Control Program (ACP) and the Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) conducted a week-long regional technical support supervision across all 16 Regional Referral Hospitals, under the regionalisation strengthening approach.
The teams reviewed how effectively health services were integrated across HIV, TB, Maternal and Child Health (MCH), Malaria, laboratory services, quality improvement, data and strategic information, human resources and commodities. This is aimed at optimising resources, strengthening coordination and breaking down service delivery silos that undermine patient care.
Beyond the assessments, the supervision achieved several practical system-strengthening milestones, including:
Handover of mobile TB/Leprosy clinic vans to Kabale and Mubende Regional Referral Hospitals.
Handover of motorcycles to all regions to strengthen outreach and improve sample transportation by hub riders.
Review of performance across integrated indicators for TB/HIV, USG (TIFA) milestones, MCH, Malaria, laboratory systems, commodities, data and human resources.
Alignment of Quarter 2 work plans and budgets to ensure resources directly supported priority service delivery interventions
